What is BSCS?

BSCS is an innovative system for monitoring bearing structures of buildings and facilities (SHM system).

BSCS is a set of hardware and specialized software, which provides real-time monitoring and assessment of bearing structures of buildings and structures.

How does it work?

In critically important areas of the building or facility, special sensors, such as sensors measuring inclination – inclinometers, or sensors measuring acceleration – accelerometers - are installed.

Sensors mounted on bearing structures of buildings, perform real-time monitoring of bearing structures parameters and transmit these readings to BSCS Server. BSCS Server, in its turn, analyzes the collected data in real time, and gives expert opinion on the display of the Automated Workstation (AWS) operator.

In case the object is too extended, local servers in addition to BSCS Server are used. Information from nearby sensors is focused on local servers and sent to BSCS Server.

BSCS Automated Workstation (AWS) is a personal computer of a dispatching or other maintenance service operator, equipped with preinstalled BSCS software package. AWS has friendly interface and allows the operator to monitor current state of bearing structures, and to review the history of readings in order to determine the trend of changes occurred. AWS can be deployed remotely on any computer in case it is connected to BSCS Server and the Internet.

Additionally, AWS is equipped with visual and sound alert systems to be immediately able to attract attention of duty personnel in the event of violation of normal operation conditions of bearing structures. Besides having the appropriate level of access, the operator BSCS Workstation is authorized to make changes to the system configuration.

Why do we need it?

  • The owner of the building or facility will be timely notified of the increased risk of a building collapse. As the result he will be given time to take actions to evacuate people or repair the damaged structures. This will increase safety, save human lives and save money for the restoration of the damaged building.
  • BSCS system is fully automated and self-diagnostic. This allows making expensive inspections and observations of technical condition of the building assisted by highly qualified specialists less often and to a lesser extent. The data collected by the system are securely stored and can be used in making periodic inspections in order to make more accurate decisions about the state and condition of bearing structures by taking fewer additional measurements.
